Rattan furniture export is one of the commonly conducted exports. Rattan furniture has high demand in various countries, leading to an increasing demand for rattan furniture exports. However, there are several terms and conditions that must be fulfilled to engage in export activities. Here are the terms and conditions for exporting rattan furniture!
1. Having a Legal Entity
Having a legal entity is a requirement when engaging in rattan furniture export activities. The legal entity should also be determined based on the type of business conducted, whether it is solely for export activities, production, or both. The documents required for export activities include the company’s deed, tax identification number (NPWP), trade business license (SIUP), and other supporting business documents.
2. Fulfilling the Required Export Documents
You need to ensure the completeness of each export document, as it determines the licensing granted by the respective country. These documents will also facilitate the customs clearance process. The necessary documents include a Phytosanitary Certificate recognized by the National Plant Protection Organization. This document is mandatory for exporters to Canada. Additionally, for rattan export activities, entrepreneurs must be registered as Registered Rattan Exporters (ETR) with the Ministry of Trade.
To obtain recognition as an ETR, you can submit a written application to the Director-General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Industry and Trade, accompanied by:
a. Photocopy of Company Registration Certificate (TDP).
b. Photocopy of Tax Identification Number (NPWP).
c. Photocopy of Taxable Enterprise Determination (PKP).
d. Photocopy of the Licensed Non-Timber Forest Product Industry (IUIPHHBK) for ETR W/S, and photocopy of the Industrial Business License (IUI) for Semi-Finished Rattan ETR.
e. Physical inspection report from the District/City Industry Office.
f. Recommendation from the Provincial Trade Office based on the inspection report mentioned in point e.
3. Fulfilling Rattan Export Requirements
Rattan furniture intended for shipment must undergo production process inspection, raw material examination, and furniture quality certification. This ensures that the exported rattan furniture meets the required standards and is suitable for export. Therefore, furniture quality certification is one of the most important requirements for exporting rattan furniture. Additionally, the raw materials used must not come from prohibited species. The use of rattan raw materials from prohibited species may affect the export licensing process. Prohibited rattan raw materials for export include:
a. Inferior rattan.
b. W/S rattan from Taman/Sega and Irit species with diameters below 4 mm and above 16 mm.
c. W/S rattan from species other than Taman/Sega and Irit.
Meanwhile, certain types and quantities of rattan can be exported, including:
a. W/S rattan from Taman/Sega species (Calamus caesius) and Irit species (Calamus trachycoleus) with diameters ranging from 4 mm to 16 mm.
b. Semi-finished rattan from Taman/Sega and Irit species, and semi-finished rattan from species other than Taman/Sega and Irit in the form of fine polish, peel, and core.
